A much needed change

It has been a while, friends. If you’ve been a follower of this blog, you’ll notice it has been wiped clean – all the old posts, categories, tags, and pages have been deleted. I’m sure you’re wondering why. I’d love to share that information with you.

For those of you that have never been here before, I began my blog in September 2017 with wonderful ideas of sharing beauty tips and makeup looks/tutorials. Unfortunately, that ship has sailed and I lost interest in what I was doing. I tried revamping my blog, turning it into a portfolio layout in hopes that it would rekindle my flame and get me excited about seeing all my makeup looks in one beautifully organized page. It worked for a short period of time, but I got tired of it again.

I was wondering what I was doing wrong. Why wasn’t I feeling inspired and creating great content to share with everyone? It took me some time, but I realized that maybe I just wasn’t meant to be a beauty blogger. That’s okay. But what was I meant to write about? I have so many hobbies, so many interests, so many ideas… But there’s not one specific one I could write about and only write about on a daily basis. I wanted to write about so much more – personal life, work, family, parenting, hobbies, interests, inspiration, women’s issues, and so much more. What does that dial down into?

Plain and simple: a lifestyle blog

Over on MediaKix.com, an article shared by writer Evan described what exactly a lifestyle blogger is. (This post was great to read and very motivational! I suggest checking it out!)

“A lifestyle blog is best defined as a digital content representation of its author’s everyday life and interests. A lifestyle blogger creates content inspired and curated by their personal interests and daily activities. As such, lifestyle blogs are oftentimes highly personalized to the author’s location, life stage and experience.”

It sounded perfect. It was just what I needed to see! I spent more time browsing and reading about successful lifestyle bloggers. So many women have done so well establishing their blogs and businesses, writing about the things that interest them the most across a wide variety of topics! After much consideration, I decided to delete all my content and start fresh. Fast forward to today – this is my first post letting all my readers know that this blog is changing course. That’s not to say I won’t be writing about makeup and beauty related topics anymore. I still intend on writing about those topics, but those won’t be the only topics.

Since it’s now a lifestyle blog, I can share more about my personal life and things I wouldn’t normally share on a beauty blog. Because of this, I chose to share a photo of my siblings and I as the featured image for this post. That’s us being super casual.

I appreciate every single one of you who have supported me from the beginning. I apologize for being so indecisive, but I’m hoping I found a theme that can keep me motivated and inspired. If you choose to leave, I understand completely. If you choose to stay, I’m glad to hear it and I hope you love the content I plan on sharing with all of you.

With all that being said, I have scheduled out posts for the next couple months already. Every Monday will be dedicated to inspirational quotes to help you kick-off your week. When I’m feeling down and out, sometimes I will just browse through some motivational quotes to get my spark back. I’m hoping that these will help some of you out too, considering Mondays are usually tough for most people because it marks the end of the weekend and the beginning of the work week. These posts will begin tomorrow morning and will be posted every Monday at 7:00am. Eight weeks have been scheduled already. As for other content-filled posts, I have intentions on sitting down and planning out for March and April tomorrow morning.

My friends, if you have any requests for content, some inspirational quotes that motivate you when you need it most, or would like to share your lifestyle blogs with me so I can learn more and see your wonderful content, please feel free to share them down below in the comments! I would love to get to know other lifestyle bloggers and help promote each other so we can all grow together. See you in the next post!

Much love, Rikki

This is my first time coming across your blog so much, but I definitely can relate to this! I’ve also found it really, really hard to just be a beauty blogger, because I wanted to share so much more of myself on my own blog. I have no clue what your posts were like before, but I am very excited to follow what content you put out now and I wish you the best of luck in your blogging journey!xx
