Getting the most out of your Ulta purchases

Good morning and happy Friday, friends. I hope you had a fulfilling and productive week! I’ve been spending this week planning and scheduling blog posts for the next two months! It’s so nice being able to set aside time to work on this website and make it the best it can possibly be!

I made a trip to Ulta this week and picked up some new products to try out. I want to do a couple posts based on the items I purchased (highlighter swatches and reviews, for example) but I had this idea to share how I get the most out of each and every trip I make! I’m sure all you ladies, gentlemen, mothers, fathers, and aliens want to save some money while also treating yourself to a new eyeshadow palette or skin care product you’ve been wanting to try! Let me give you some tips and show you ways you can save money on your trips to Ulta!

Before heading into Ulta, activate your rewards!

Many people might not know this, but Ulta shares point multipliers all the time in your rewards section! Usually, emails will be sent out letting you know that they’re available. Don’t know how to activate these? Let me show you! Ulta sign in

Sign into your account on the Ulta website. If you don’t have an account, feel free to make one! Ulta sends emails periodically to let you know about new promotions, new products, and sends coupons/rewards notifications all the time!

Ulta rewards screenAfter signing in, you’ll reach a screen that looks like this! I’ve whited out some of my personal information, but you get the gist of what’s going on here. This screen shares with you how many points you currently have, your account information, email preferences, and how close you are to achieving Platinum status. The red circle indicates what tab you’ll need to click on in order to activate your point multipliers.

Ulta rewards

Again, I’ve blurred out some information, but here is the rewards center screen. This is where you will activate your offers to receive extra points on your Ultamate Rewards card. You can also print your rewards card, see your point history, and even apply for the Ulta credit card. At the bottom of the screen, you’ll see a section labeled “Bonus Offers,” which is where you go to activate them! There will be orange buttons to the right that you’ll click on to activate the offer. All of mine are currently activated. After you’ve done these steps, you’re ready to make even more money back on your purchases at Ulta!

Tip for my Ulta shoppers: This Anastasia Beverly Hills 5X point multiplier comes right on time with the release of the Soft Glam palette and the Amrezy highlighter! The offer expires on March 10, so you’d better hurry and place an order!

Save up your points!

Okay, you’ve saved up quite a few points thanks to your recent purchase. But what are they used for? Ulta points are redeemable on any product in the store! You can use these on prestige brands or drugstore brands! You can use them on skin care or hair care products! These are so important when it comes to saving money at Ulta! I know there might be a urge for you to redeem your points as quick as you earn them, but it’s so much more satisfying and worthwhile to wait until you’ve saved 2,000 points. I know, I know… that’s a lot of points. But if you keep an eye on those bonus offers, sometimes those coveted brands will pop up offering point multipliers, which means it’s your chance to send those point numbers skyrocketing!

Ulta’s point system redemption is as follows:

100 = $3.00 off

500 = $17.50 off

750 = $30 off

1000 = $50 off

2000 = $125 off

Do you see why you should wait? Look at how those numbers rack up as you continue to save up your points! Imagine saving 2,000 points – you walk into Ulta, pick up $125 worth of product, redeem those points, and walk out not paying a dime! It’s a dream come true!

Use coupons!

That’s right, friends. You can use coupons at Ulta. If you receive their mailers, they typically will put coupons to save on your next purchase. Usually, those do not work on prestige brands. The fine print will fill you in on those details. But, Ulta will send out coupons in emails sometimes that are able to be used on prestige brands! Ulta coupons aren’t the only ones you can use. This store also sells many cosmetic and beauty brands you can find in drug stores – places like CVS, Walgreens, etc. Because of this, they accept manufacturer’s coupons for those products – you know, the ones you get in the Sunday newspaper. Just another great way to save money on some of your favorite products!

Look at the ads!

This may be obvious, but look at their ad before heading in without a plan. Many cosmetics, hair care, and skin care products are sale depending on Ulta’s recent promotions. Sales like “buy one, get one 40% off” or “buy two, get one free” are the ones you should take a look at! Brands like NYX Cosmetics and Makeup Revolution are often seen on sale, this is when I usually stock up if my products are getting low. As mentioned before, the ads also have coupons that you can use on your purchase. It just makes sense to check it out ahead of your shopping trip!

Friends, I hope this post gave your pockets a sigh of relief. No longer will your money be spent carelessly at Ulta like mine used to be. I would like to stress that I was in no way associated with Ulta for this post, it’s just my preferred place to purchase cosmetics (yes, even ahead of Sephora) and I wanted to share just how much money you could really save if you planned accordingly.

What are your go-to brands to shop for when you’re planning a trip to Ulta? What products can you not live without? Share your favorites in the comments below so our community of lovely individuals can see and perhaps even try them for themselves! Leave a link to your blog as well so I can check out some of your amazing content!

Much love, Rikki

      Oh yeah, the multipliers are delightful! You rack up the points so much faster, and even more so once you’ve reached Platinum status… which isn’t hard to do because products are so expensive, lol.
